Farm Tour: Marlivale Farm, NSW

Join fellow farmers for a hands-on tour of Marlivale Farm, a working pecan and dryland rice operation in the Northern Rivers. This is a chance to walk the orchard and paddocks, see a biological growing system in action, and talk shop with the growers.

On the day, you'll see:

• Rotational cattle grazing through the pecan orchard, and how it's used to build soil biodiversity and nutrient cycling

• Dryland rice production — rain-fed growing with no irrigation, and how the farm manages yield risk through dry seasons

• Biological soil fertility practices, including home-made compost teas, in place of synthetic fertilisers and chemicals since 2000

• On-site pecan processing — harvesting, roasting, and packing
